Recommendation for Temperature Sensor

I just want straightforward remote temperature sensing for my 994izw. Not planning on replacing existing thermostats.  I've scanned the forums but have not seen any clear winners or losers.

Any recommendations?  Insteon wireless thermostat?  Z-Wave Aeotec?  Other?  I like the multi-sensor 6, but I understand ISY does not support it yet.  Does it support 1 channel if I use it just for temperature and then the other channels with the ISY multi-channel update?

Thanks!

Thanks, I was looking for something a bit more 'plug n play' LOL.  Gone are the days where I have time to spend on projects like this.  :-)

If only one, maybe two sensors are required the simple 2441ZTH Insteon thermostat is about the cheapest and most PnP.

Humidity is sent on a regular basis, and can act as a heartbeat. Temperature is sent on about a 1.0 C change. The units are not compact, great looking or particularly cheap but easy to implement.

Two AA batteries will run it or add a small 5v USB charger with the microUSB plug cut off the end if you can strip and connect wiring into a terminal block. If the power fails, the batteries just kick in and the updates are slower.

The MultiSensor 6 is the?

Aeon Labs Aeotec Z-Wave Multi-Sensor 6, Gen5
Item # AEZW100A

I ordered one tonight.  Since the ISY can presently read one channel only, is it possible to select which sensor, or is it temp. by default?

Yes that is it. All nodes show up and function just fine in the current version 4 firmware. There is a good post on here about how to properly setup and configure it.

I've got about 12 of these between two houses, so far even though all they're doing is motion sensing and acting as secure repeaters... I love them.

I strongly suggest a) including them securely while powered by usb and B) powering them by usb wherever you install them because if you do, they'll act as secure repeaters. They really shored up my sparse zwave network (virtually all my HA is Insteon, but locks are zwave).

Yeah, I am planning on using it usb powered.  This would be my first z-wave, everything else is Insteon, with a couple of old X-10 thrown in there.  If it works out well, there will be more.

I hope the temperature measurement is accurate or, if not, I can calibrate (offset) it in the ISY.  Haven't looked into that yet.

You can use Z-wave "parameters" to set an offset for the sensors in the multi-sensor 6.

How good is the vibration detection on one of these Aeontech 6 in 1 units?  Was wondering if I could magnetically mount it to my dryer and find out when it's done?
