Setting ZWave config parameters for battery devices

Featured Replies

Howdy,

When setting ZWave config parameters for a battery powered device, do I have to wake the device up before I set the config parameters?  Or will the ISY send config parameters when the device wakes up next?

I'm hoping it's the later because most of the devices I have stay awake for a very short period of time when they are manually woken up.

Most battery powered zwave devices support 'beamforming'. In other words - they can be woken up remotely by a sending device that also supports this (like the ISY).

So, you *shouldn't* have to manually wake devices to send parameters (or query) - as long as all relays support beam forming.

Most of the devices I'm working with don't seem to support beam forming or waking up remotely.  My locks do, but I have about 12 temp/humidity sensors around and they don't.  So in that case, will the ISY configuring them when it seems them (eventually) wake up or do I have to manually wake them up at the exact second that I configure a parameter?

That I don't know. When it comes to battery powered devices - all the ones I have support beam forming. It's a feature I look for when buying devices.

What devices are they?
