gduprey Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Howdy, When setting ZWave config parameters for a battery powered device, do I have to wake the device up before I set the config parameters? Or will the ISY send config parameters when the device wakes up next? I'm hoping it's the later because most of the devices I have stay awake for a very short period of time when they are manually woken up. Gerry
MWareman Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Most battery powered zwave devices support 'beamforming'. In other words - they can be woken up remotely by a sending device that also supports this (like the ISY). So, you *shouldn't* have to manually wake devices to send parameters (or query) - as long as all relays support beam forming.
gduprey Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 Most of the devices I'm working with don't seem to support beam forming or waking up remotely. My locks do, but I have about 12 temp/humidity sensors around and they don't. So in that case, will the ISY configuring them when it seems them (eventually) wake up or do I have to manually wake them up at the exact second that I configure a parameter? Gerry

When it comes to battery powered devices - all the ones I have support beam forming. It's a feature I look for when buying devices. What devices are they?
