curmudgeon Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I have 3 scenes in my ISY: bed, tv and living room. Alexa discovers the first two with no problem, but not the "living room'. I have reset the name, reset the spoken name, erased and discovered devices multiple times and no matter what I do it has never discovered "living room'. Everything else works fine, so I've obviously been correct in my setups there. Any advice or alternatives to try, or ideas on what the problem is? I'm at my wits end on this one. Thanks Quote
stusviews Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 From the portal, select add scene. Search for and add the scene, then from the Alexa, discover devices. Quote
curmudgeon Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 Thank you Stu. That did the trick, but I have no recollection of doing that procedure for the other two scenes. Old age is pitiful! Quote
stusviews Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 The scene should have been added unless you created it after the portal was initially set up. Quote
ScottAvery Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 In earlier versions of the portal interface scenes and devices could be added to portal from a single pulldown menu, so you may have added the originals at the same time as devices. Quote
kevinr Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 FYI if you have two ISYs connected to your portal (as I do), Alexa will only find devices from your 'preferred' ISY, which is set in the profile section of the ISY Portal page. Quote
o2bnme Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I have scenes and devices showing in my ISY Portal. Two weeks ago, I synchronized my Echo with my IS Portal and tested a verbal command (successfully). This weekend, I was unable to replicate. I tried using the same command. I also created a few more verbal commands for scenes and devices. I have not been able to get the Echo to discover any devices or scenes this go around. I also tried using the "detect my devices" verbal command from the device and "detect" action from the Alexa app on my Android phone. I am currently using "ISY Optimized for Smart Home V3" skill. Should I be doing something different? Quote

Alexa sorts things into three tabs now. Devices, everything else, and alexa groups. Edited December 5, 2017 by larryllix Quote

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not seeing a "Forget" option in the Alexa app. I tried disabling the skill and then re-enabling it. That got things synchronized, so I'm good, but I still would like to clean things up. I have a bunch of old "devices" from prior configurations still listed at the bottom of the devices list under "disabled devices." Quote
stusviews Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 There are two distinct Amazon Alexa apps and they differ considerably. It's become imperative to specify which app you're using, the smartphone app or the computer app. That also goes for indicating which ISY version, 4+ or 5+ and now, even the ISY Alexa skill, v2 or v3. The computer Amazon Alexa has "Forget All," the smartphone Amazon Alexa app does not. Quote

I have both options at the bottom of my smart home device list as well as my smart home scene list on my android alexa app. However I have no centre icon at the bottom of the screen, whatever that is. I only have the house and stacked bars graph icons. How would a mobile app user forget unwanted devices without the "Forget All" option? Each device and scene also have individual forgets beside them. Quote

They will do it by going to alexa.amazon.com in any browser on any desktop or tablet (not the phone apps) Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk Edited December 6, 2017 by TheFallenAngel 1 Quote
JackP Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The scene should have been added unless you created it after the portal was initially set up. Are you saying after initial setup you cannot add anymore scenes?? I am having a problem running new scenes and new programs. Is this an issue or not? Quote

Is this an issue or not? Nope. Anny additions need to be manually Discovered as well as changes. And don't forget to Forget deleted devices, scnes and program. Alexa never forgets unless instructed to. Look for anything that indicates that it's offline. 1 Quote
