jgcharlotte Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Anybody used this switch? Does it work? Good price on Amazon. If it gets thumbs up, I'll post this in Coffee Shop also. http://www.amazon.com/Aeon-Labs-DSC06106-ZWUS-Z-Wave-Energy/dp/B007UZH7B8?ie=UTF8&redirect=true&ref_=pe_847920_187374210_em_1p_3_des
mwester Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Yeah, I have a couple of these. Big, bulky, kinda ugly - but they work just fine. The flat plug is actually more of a feature than I ever thought it would be -- since pretty much every other plug-in module I have is a bulky "wall-wart", this is the go-to device for tight spaces.
kohai Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I have one of these in my utility room running my hot water circulation pump on a schedule. Works well.
kohai Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Does the energy monitor work well? I've never gotten into monitoring so I don't really know what the stats mean. The numbers seem to reset occasionally, but I have no idea if that is typical or how it works.
jgcharlotte Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 I went ahead and ordered one. $25, what the heck. Even for just a switch, it's a good price and it's rated 5 amps higher than the Insteon switch if I'm not mistaken.
J_Barrett Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 You could look at this thread on how to set it up and it's reporting http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/13055-aeon-smart-switch-dsc06106-zwus/
kohai Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Makes me tempted to get another one. I've considered monitoring how frequently a sump pump is running.....
mwester Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Does the energy monitor work well? For my rough back-of-the-envelope sorts of values, yes the energy monitor works well. It may actually be very precise, but I haven't actually run tests on this, so I can only report on how I've used it...
