4wealn Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Hello everyone. I have been having an issue lately with my programming. Everything worked great for quite some time and then about a month ago my outdoor lights (only program currently running) would not turn off at the scheduled time. This would happen every other day. One day they would work fine then the next they would not turn off, then the next day they would, and so on. I thought I needed to update the firmware and so I did and nothing has changed. I also erased the program and re-input the program and still no change. I have also reset the 994i, and my modem and router and did not make a difference. Has anyone encountered this and if so can you please help me out. The unit is a 994i with PLM. Thanks in advance. Cheers.
jerlands Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Sounds like the load is creating noise that interferes with communications. What type of bulb do you have? Could also be something other on the same circuit. Try opening up Event Viewer to Level 3, turn the light on and let it warm up then turn it off. You're looking for Hops Left=(x) where 3 or 2 is good comms and less is poor comms. You could also copy to clipboard (clipboard looking icon bottom toolbar) and paste into message post. Jon...

4wealn Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Hi, thanks for the reply. I have an average 100 watt flood bulb in it. I will post the copy of the program tomorrow. It is just the basic program that says - if the time is sunset plus 25 min, then turn on lights. The off says - if the time is sunset plus 6 hrs, then turn lights off. I will however post it tomorrow.
jerlands Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Something changed from the time of good operation to the time of poor operation. Either something's inflicting noise during the scheduled Off period, the program's not running the Off schedule or something is turning them back on. You might right click program > Find/Replace and look for all programs including the light. From what I can tell, the ISY and PLM aren't suspect at this point. Jon...
Techman Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 If sunset plus 6 hours falls after midnight (i.e. next day) then that may be what's causing your problem
4wealn Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 I will change the length of time and see if that changes anything. I will post results. Thanks guys.
4wealn Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 Here are my on and off programs as requested. Outside Pot Lights On - [iD 0003][Parent 0001] If Time is Sunset + 25 minutes Then Set 'Outside Pot Lights' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Outside Pot Lights Off - [iD 0004][Parent 0001] If Time is Sunset + 4 hours Then Set 'Outside Pot Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
stusviews Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 A sure way to alleviate the (same day) (next day) difficulty is with one program using a Wait: Outside Pot Lights On - [iD 0003][Parent 0001] If Time is Sunset + 25 minutes Then Set 'Outside Pot Lights' On Wait x hours Set 'Outside Pot Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
jerlands Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Your programs don't look like the problem right now but once sunset is after 8pm maybe. I'd follow Stu's suggestion though and make changes. So the flood is a standard halogen? I know that CFL's can cause problems once they warm up but incandescents don't. Jon...
4wealn Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 Hey guys, it has been a week since I changed the duration of the lights being on and kept it on the same day (before midnight). All seems to be working great so far. I wanted to add the wait in the program but cannot find it. Can someone guide me. Thanks for helping me with this. Cheers
4wealn Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 Found it. Lets see if it works for me. I will post my results in a few days. Cheers
Techman Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Found it. Lets see if it works for me. I will post my results in a few days. Cheers Another option is setting your off time for a specific time, then the on and off cycles can reside in the same program.
