paulbates Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Firmware is the control software that provides the features of the ISY. Firmware is continuously released to add new features and address bugs. The version you pick is question of how risk tolerant or risk adverse you are. I'm in a hurry. What should I do to get the most stable version of firmware on my ISY994i? Pick the highest release number at the top of the thread with (Official) or 'Now Official' after its name Review, then exactly follow directions in that post for that version for downloading and install the firmware Download and install the most recent version of Java on your PC or Mac Use step 4.a in the same release post to download the matching Admin.jnlp to your computer. Double click it to run the admin console The firmware and admin console versions are matched and both must come from the same post and be installed to work together I want the details....What are the differences between the families of ISY firmware? V4. - Version 4 firmware is the most current and stable firmware family and in the middle of its product life. Updated versions are continuously released to add features and address bugs. V4 firmwares have these designations: Official / Now Official UDI considers the highest number release with (Official) or 'Now Official' at the end of its name to be the most stable available release for your ISY Choose the highest number (Official) version if you want the your ISY to run the most stable available code with the lowest risk to unintended behavior. Release Candidate (RC#) A Release Candidate is a package of features and fixes from a beta version that is on its way to be being an Official Release The "Things to test" section of the release notes will list new features and bug fixes that need to be validated These new releases are a way for this community to finalize the testing Your feedback in the Release thread for this version is important, especially the "Things to test" Choose this version if you need something on the "Things to test" list or want to help the community test. You are accepting more risk than an "Official Release" but less than beta Beta Beta relases intially introduce new features and bug fixes The "Things to test" section of the release notes will list new features and bug fixes that need to be validated These new releases are validated by this community in Beta versions Your feedback in the Release thread for this version is important, especially "Things to test" Choose this version if you requested or really need something on the "Things to test" list or want to help the community test, and you are willing to accept the risk of unintended side effects of an early release. You are accepting the highest risk of firmwares in the V4 family. V5. - V5 firmware is a new product and introduces the Node Server concept. Node Servers give the ISY the ability to adapt to the myriad of HA products that are continuously being introduced. This version is considered Alpha/Beta and should only be downloaded if: You are willing to accept the risk of running a new product that is under development and changing frequently. You are willing to live with bugs, interface imperfections and workarounds to keep your system running If you want to participate in testing V5, review the posts in the link provided to pick the version that best matches your needs
