mjpotts82 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I am about to blow away y existing zwave network which is based on smartthings. What I cant decide is whether to use the Leviton USB stick and software as the primary to get my scene controllers working (they don't work now) or to use he ISY as the primary and wait until 5.0 is out to get keypad support. Is there any reason to choose one over the other? Being new to this forum, how quickly do alphas move to betas to production?
stusviews Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Being new to this forum, how quickly do alphas move to betas to production? There is no one answer. Some products move from Alpha to Beta in months, others take years. Some never go beyond Alpha.

Hi mjpotts82, Unfortunately, unexpected issues can crop up that cause releases to take longer than expected, therefore, there is no one answer to how long it takes to go from alpha/beta/production. In regards to primary vs secondary, you can change that at any time by shifting the primary to another controller. As a secondary controller, the only issue is that the ISY may not be able to do certain things (such as add/remove devices).
mjpotts82 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 Yeah. After mulling this over the weekend I think the isy will be secondary.
asbril Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I am following this with interest and have the following questions. Because ISY is not yet ready for switches such as Enerwave ZWN-SC7 Z-Wave 7-Button Scene Controller, I am wondering whether I should add another controller (Smarthings, VERA ???) . Would another controller communicate with ISY, and let's say that I have the ZWN-SC7 on Smarthings and specific light switches on ISY, would the ZWN-SC7 be able activate / de-activate a scene on ISY ?

When I quote it I can see it in a block style font and then read it.
