Teken Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 New Leak Sensors arrived. Both set up correctly in ISY with the v.43 firmware for the correct device. One of them senses correctly, but looks like the other one is NOT sensing water. There is no flash on a water dip, nor a state change in ISY, unlike with the other unit. Guess that one may have to go back! * Orest Some of the units will require you place it in a body of water as simply dabbing the metal feet doesn't always illicit the correct response.

Placed it in a plate, with at least 1/4" of water. Worked with its mate, can try dunking a bit more. * Orest

If the leak sensor does not trip / blink at all when placed in a plate of water. Its best you send it back for a RMA via cross dock so you can receive one right away.
oskrypuch Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 ...Its best you send it back for a RMA via cross dock so you can receive one right away. Yep, that is my intention. Should be no issue. * Orest
stusviews Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 The wet should trip when placed on a wet paper towel, no need to dunk it.
Teken Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Yep, that is my intention. Should be no issue. * Orest Hello Orest, For the sake of asking you would please follow the steps outlined by Stu and hard reset the new leak sensor which doesn't seem to be operating correctly. At least if you do this step you will know its defective or not - It would also save the time shipping the product back . . .
oskrypuch Posted August 18, 2016 Author Posted August 18, 2016 Sure, that (factory reset) sounds like a good idea. * Orest
Teken Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Please also measure the battery to ensure its at the proper voltage level even though it stated as having a 10 year service life. Smartlabs has indicated a few bad cells have been installed over the last few quarters.
stusviews Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I had a Leak sensor battery die within a few months. You don't need a special battery for a test. Any fresh AA will suffice.
oskrypuch Posted August 18, 2016 Author Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) Hello Orest, ... hard reset the new leak sensor which doesn't seem to be operating correctly. How about that, the hard reset fixed it. The second (new) leak sensor is properly detecting water too, now. Thanks, saved me some postage. * Orest Edited August 18, 2016 by oskrypuch

Please ensure you test and validate this sensor over the next few months to ensure it continues to operate as expected. As an aside its always best practice to hard reset all new Insteon hardware from the factory. Doing so ensures the device is reset to a OEM state, removes half links, and test programming that may be present.
