danbutter Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I don't work for homeseer or anything. Just letting people know that I found these on the homeseer store and I wanted a few for holiday lights and such so I tried them out. The first one I enrolled I took to my detached garage and it plugged it in about 100 ft away from the closest zwave device inside my brick house. Didn't do a heal or anything and it worked on the first try! These do support beaming and may be a halfway decent repeater. I didn't really have trouble with my zwave network so I don't know how they'll help, but I know they have great range! http://products.z-wavealliance.org/products/1091/embedpics http://benchemail.bmeurl.co/6681D58 scroll down below the locks (at time of posting this anyway)
KeviNH Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 First I've seen "Dragon Tech Z-Wave Plus appliance modules" (PA-100). I found a few claims this is a house brand for ZwaveProducts.com; ZWP and Amazon have these DragonTech modules at much higher prices, and their listings add a few details: New 500 series Z-Wave Chipset Certification ID B0151Z1TW6 Biggest claim-to-fame for the 500 chips is improved transmit power (+2.5dBM) and support for all Z-Wave Plus features.
danbutter Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 It seems that the dragon tech stuff is who makes the homeseer stuff. They have different firmware I'm sure, but the on/off modules I bought work really well. Not easy to find anything z-wave for $20 let alone the zwave plus features so I thought I'd share.
stusviews Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Do the modules reporting status for a program trigger?
danbutter Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 The option is there while writing a program for control and status. I'm running 5.0.2 it it matters. All my zwave shows up under (old) in this version. If you have an example program I'll try it for you if you like.
stusviews Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 My concern is that not all Z-Wave devices report/update their status. Do these provide immediate status so as to trigger an program?
danbutter Posted August 29, 2016 Author Posted August 29, 2016 It seems to work fine remotely. I have made a short program to say if status on then turn on another light and turning it on from an off state remotely works and fires the program. I'll try to go hit the button on it in a bit.
MWareman Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 These seem like neat devices - especially for $20. I not that although they support accommodations, they do not support the 'scene' class... May not matter to most though...
danbutter Posted August 29, 2016 Author Posted August 29, 2016 Yeah good bang for the buck. Ok so I took my laptop to where I have one of these plugged in and hit the button and status was updated right away and the program to turn on the other light fired off. I did it twice and success both times. I'm attaching node details as ISY sees it for anyone curious.
stusviews Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 That's a test for "Control." Does the device trigger a program if you turn it on or off remotely as opposed to manually (i.e., Status)?
ISYhbsh01 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 How would this compare as a repeater to the Aeon siren often recommended on this forum?
danbutter Posted August 30, 2016 Author Posted August 30, 2016 Well I didn't have any trouble with my zwave mesh, but these things have a lot greater range that what I had before since they are zwave plus. They do support beaming. Should be decent for a repeater. Price of admission isn't all that much to try one.
