Sounds you hear that you'd think you shouldn't...

Right now, pretty sure I am hearing sounds from one of the races at Coronado Speedfest.

 

Thing is, I'm across San Diego Bay, at least a half-mile to the east, and blocked by many tall buildings. If I stand on a ladder, I can barely see the top of Point Loma over some lower buildings.

 

My favorite is when the Disney cruise ships dock and leave. They have a unique sound to their "horn".

 

"When you wish upon a star..."

 

 

The docks are at least on my side of the bay, but still quite some distance. Those sounds sure carry!
