catch up on restart not working ?

Hello everyone..

Was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue when my ISY restarts (power failure for example) it fails to keep its status and all components are set to off on when the power returns.. I have to manually restart the scene it was running before the power failure..

I have confirmed "Catch up on restart" is enabled .. am I missing something else that needs to be enabled ?

thank you !

Matt

Hello Matt,

One of the options under the programs section is *Run at startup*. Please note having too many programs initializing during a reboot process will add delays to the controller when its querying the Insteon network.

This can be from five minutes to almost an hour . . .

Thanks.. actually never used that option.. Ill take a closer look but I use geofencing to provide system status..

Im Home

Im not at Home

Scenes are set accordingly..

But still does not explain why the ISY will not retain status on restart ..

I now disabled Query at restart and will test ..

thanks !!

Hello Matt,

Not trying to confuse the issue here but the Query at start up would indeed identify the current state of a device. The second issue you need to identify is whether or not the Insteon devices you have concern over have what is known as *Last Known State*

Meaning, if the device was on and power went out - upon restore of utility power that same device would turn back on and vise versa. Some older Insteon devices would either go off if it was powered on vs others would react in the opposite fashion. Also, you can use one of several methods that works best for your use case like query a scene / device in the program or use *Responding*.

One point.

Battery operated Insteon Modules are in a power saving mode and their state of On or Off may not be found until they send a signal.

To further add to Brian H's comment many if not all Z-Wave devices do not support *Instant Status* therefor their current state must also be queried.
