raptor
My PLM 2412s just failed so I ordered a PLM 2413S as the 2412 is no longer available. My 2412 was connected to my ISY via CAT5 cable. The new 2413S came with a cable that is RJ45 on one end and serial connector the other end. Should this be connected with the serial on the back of the ISY or should I connect the same way the 2412 was with just a CAT5 cable. Also since this is a replacement and not a new install is there a specific way to swap it and not lose any connection info. Link to comment

If your using the ISY994 then use the CAT5 cable between the ISY and the PLM. Be sure to exactly follow the PLM replacement procedures. found here Do not do a "delete modem" https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu You may also need a power supply http://www.smarthome.com/universal-devices-isy-power-supply.html Edited November 9, 2016 by Techman Link to comment
stusviews
The 2413S PLM does not supply power to the ISY as did the 2412S PLM, so you'll need an external power supply. USB power supplies provide the correct voltage (5VDC). Link to comment
