stusviews Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 We have a KPL button labelled B double-E double-R UN. What's that spell?
nickp Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 Okay, so I figured out the program, as I said earlier, but I was not happy with it. The problem is that there is a 1 second delay between pressing the button and anything happening. That is the kind of thing that will drive the wife nuts. So.... So, I spent the weekend thinking about it, and came to the following conclusion. The reason I wanted the 6 button to work as an 8 button was so that I could control the discrete on and off. But if I wanted the LEDs to work correctly I had to use a program. If I used a program then there was a delay. I realized a simpler solution. Put the KPL back to 5 button mode. Use a program to trap the KPL.1 is ON and use that to turn on the patio lights. Use a program to trap the KPL.1 is OFF and use that to turn off the patio lights. The standard KPL controls will take care of the lights being correct. The program will take care of the additional lights, although there will be a 1 second delay. The wife will be happy as she presses a light button and sees an immediate response. I will be happy as lights will get turned off automatically. All in all, I like this solution as it is "simpler". PS, thanks Gary, I was waiting for that answer.

Why do you need a program to turn on the patio lights when ON is pressed and off when OFF is pressed? My six device KPL doesn't use programs at all, only scenes.

My six device KPL doesn't use programs at all, only scenes. The issue was that there was an exterior light (wired to the KPL) and a fan light (with a fan module.) There was no separate switch for the light in the fan. So, I wanted the exterior light and fan light to come on with the same button press. One switch controlling two lights (receivers.) When I setup the master bedroom I want to do this with slightly more control (so this switch was really a practice switch.) In the master, then is the main bedroom, a closet and a bathroom. I want the ON switches in each room to turn on ONLY that room. I want the OFF switch in the closet, and bathroom, to turn off that respective room. i want the OFF switch in the bedroom to turn off all lights. The programming method allows me to turn off the other rooms using KPL.1 = off, whereas just setting a scene with one controller and two responders will always turn on the bathroom/closet lights when the bedroom lights are turned on.
