It would connect to the hub using the LAN and the hub would control the Insteon and X10 devices. I found a YouTube video that shows the HouseLinc software connect to an Insteon hub over a LAN. I ask because the ISY Series Controller supports natively X-10, and Insteon. If you purchase the upgrade hardware it will either support Z-Wave / ZigBee. It should be noted House Linc 2 Software only works on the older HUB v1 / v2 and doesn't work on the HUB II nor does it support X-10 any longer. Link to comment

Correct, the ISY Series Controller requires the 2413S PLM to offer both X-10 and Insteon on the power line. As of this writing there continues to be early failures of the 2413S PLM with hardware 2.0, 2.1, 2.2. With respect to the HUB Controller there doesn't seem to be very many *Publicly* reported failures in the open forums whether that be on the SH, UDI, Insteon forums. Then again most of the HUB's have been sold off on EBAY or similar after finding out how limited the controller is. If you're in North America your best solution at the moment is to use the 2413S PLM. In the past UDI was intending to release their very own PLM using higher grade components which also supports world wide voltage and frequency. As of this writing there is no mention as to where this project lies or if it will ever be allowed to be released. It was noted in many past forum threads the development and future sale of this UDI made PLM was hinging upon Smartlabs selling the PLM chips and allowing the company to flash the PLM firmware should it ever be required. Both of these were sticking points which I have to gather is still what holds the release of said product. Link to comment

paulbates Posted January 2, 2017 Share Posted January 2, 2017 I've had a hub and taken it apart. Different case, but the daughter card is the same thing you find in the PLM. No difference outside of the interface to local LAN and connect.insteon.com Paul Link to comment
Brian H Posted January 2, 2017 Share Posted January 2, 2017 The older 2242-222 HUB normally had a network board in it. Mine has a shielded network board in it.I understand some of them had the network board replaced with a PLM Serial Board. For some testing. I have a internal photo of one of the converted ones. I believe there are also some overseas vendors doing the modification to the original HUB. For use as a PLM on other countries power standards.The newer 2245-222 has a completely different PCB. All functions on one square PCB. Link to comment
