abuttino Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I am looking for a Z-Wave GDO to attach to my Genie GDO system. I would like to use ISY firmware 4.5.4 but also would like future compatibility to the v5 series firmware. I have pretty much ruled out the idea of the IO Linc Insteon. Any suggestions?
KeviNH Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 There are a few Z-Wave relay controllers on the market, mostly multi-channel.Compatibility issues aside, few are as cost-effective as an IOlinc.
mwester Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I've been happy using the Linear gd00z-1 device with 5.0.2 firmware on the ISY. Make sure to enroll it as a secure device, and note that if you need a repeater it'll have to be secure-capable as well. I modified the Genie wall-mounted button for the garage door opener so that the Linear device is in parallel with the button contacts - a little soldering but nothing difficult in any way.

If you have an Elk, connecting the GDO to an Elk output works great (it's what I do, and it's far more secure than an IOLinc, and not subject to the infamous 'All On' issue).
