Moved from ISY24 to ISY994i but can't find any devices . . .

It's been several years since I used my ISY24 to drawl the Insteon network and pull in all my devices.  I just installed an ISY994i and can't seem to get to first base.  I tried Link Management > Start Linking > Add devices found in links and keep existing links and am told to prepare for a long wait, but the green "ready" flag comes back after a fraction of a second.

I'm using the latest firmware, the PLM info says 2C.818 v9B connected.

What am I missing?

Although this may not be the reason, as you system is really old, it's best if you factory reset each and every device before adding it. There's probably changes that you made over the years that'll be best removed and started fresh. Also try new Insteon device.

"Latest firmware" is meaningless. Specify which? If you updated, the did you update both the firmware and UI. If not, then that may be the source of your difficulty.

After starting the Start Linking function. You are then holding Set Button on each module being added to the system?

As each module is found. It should be listed by its six digit Insteon ID and model number. I don't remember if the modules firmware is also listed as I don't use the Start Linking method but I believe it is.

I would also suggest starting from scratch with factory reset modules.

Are you trying to use the PLM {most likely the older 2412S} from the ISY26i?

It is also a good chance all your modules are the earlier power line only models. So power line noise, phase coupling and signal absorbing maybe an issue. Do you have any of the 2442 Signalinc RF or 2443 Access Points?

I think I had a misunderstanding of what it meant for the ISY994i to "crawl the network."  I thought it would just look around and find all my Insteon stuff, kind of the way AngryIP scanner can scan a LAN segment for IP devices.

I wound up putting the ISY-24 back in and making a current backup, then replacing it with the ISY-994i and restoring from the newly-created backup.  Mission accomplished.

The danger with an Insteon network crawl it that if there's an exterior outlet, then anyone can crawl the network and gain control.
