Advice on which mobile app to get?

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm relatively new to ISY and miss my iPhone client when I am remote.

I subscribe to the UD Portal Service to enable Alexa access already.

Can anyone recommend which mobile client to get?

I have isy994i zw. Use Alexa for voice. Have mostly insteon install with some zwave. And I have the UD portal subscription.

Which is the right tool to get?

Mobilink seems popular - but even then there are multiple versions.

Thanks!

You can try MobiLinc Lite for free to see if you like it. It has a  # devices limitation. If you like it then you can upgrade it to the full version.

Warning, if you are running the 5.X Alpha software on your ISY, some things won't work correctly.

Mobilinc is the best. It's just pricey. If you don't mind the price get it.

I wrote xcontrol which isn't perfect but what I use everyday. I like the quickness of it and it's less expensive.

There are a couple others but I haven't used them for a long time.

eKeypad is quite nice too, especially if you have other devices (Elk, IP Cams, etc). Worth checking out

Any comparison between eKeypad and mobilink.

I'm really confused by the different versions of mobilink. How do I know what is right?

MobiLinc, MobiLinc, MobiLinc. Need I say more?

if you do go with MobiLinc, don't get the Orchestrated version unless you REALLY want resource management, because it is just wasted screen space if you don't need it.

Thanks! I have bought mobilink. I am already using the UD portal service. It seems like many of the more interesting mobilink capabilities like geofencing and remote access do not work over the UD portal which is frustrating.

Is there a way to have a custom list of devices or scenes to rapidly assess status? I do like how it supports lock and sensor status.

Remote access works fine against the ISY Portal.

For geofencing, look to the (free) Locative app. Currently, you can report location events via an IFTTT URL on the portal, but soon there will be full multi device, multi location functionality...

Yes, add them to your dashboard. Can include scenes devices and/or programs. You can then have the app automatically open to the dashboard, or a different screen if you want.
