Porting to new ISY

I'm having loads of performance problems which I think ithe culprit is the PLM. Since I want to play with zwave, I'm getting a new ISY as well. So basically I will have all new hardware.

Is it possible to copy my entire network using a backup? What happens with any modules I may have purchased, do they come over too? What about the portal?

A known good backup should work. No purchased modules will transfer. You'll have to have ISY update those modules.

You may want to create a new backup and install the new PLM first.

Are you suggesting I do a backup, swap the PLM, then do a backup and then restore the backup to the new ISY with new PLM?

Nope. Swap the PLM. If everything is OK, then you're done (there'll be some minor fixes you'll have to handle manually such as restoring battery powered devices one at a time). If everything is a mess, then you'll need to restore from a known good backup made before the swap.

After the PLM is successfully swapped, create a new backup. Restore the new backup to the new ISY.

You can restore the new PLM from your orirignal ISY or the new ISY.  I did it this way when I switched to a z-wave ISY a couple months ago.

1) Create backup of old ISY

2) Unplug old ISY/PLM and plug in new ISY attached to new PLM

3) Log into new ISY

4) Update firmware if necessary to same firmware you were running on old ISY

5) Restore Backup you created

6) Restore PLM from new ISY

7) Send ticket to UDI giving UUID of old and new ISY and request transfer of modules.  In my experience they transfer the modules within the hour.

Security Certificates (if installed) need to be re-installed manually.  There are a few other things that need to be done manually, I forget what, but check the configuration page and make sure things like time zones and stuff are correct.
