is there anyway to detect a controlinc button press? i want a program to run if the #1 on button is pressed on my controlinc

Yes, they can be detected just like any other Insteon button press. When writing your program, consider using CONTROL and not status.

i had brought controlinc into a different room where PC was and it is not very insteon friendly. once i plugged it back in the bedroom it worked as you said.
