Scyto Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I just revved everything, nodelink had been non functional on my pi for some reason, reboot cured it. I have packet format set to 14 on the gem but I am getting: 2017-12-05 22:47:24 - GEM: PUT /sites/ HTTP/1.1Host: api.smartenergygroups.comAccept: */*Content-Length: 1058 [gem] 2017-12-05 22:47:24 - GEM Decode Error - Argument 'Length' is not a valid value. Scyto Posted December 6, 2017 Author Posted December 6, 2017 I changed to packet format 2 instead of 14 and that seemed to fix any gem errors.
io_guy Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I'll take a look; lately I'm seeing some decode errors on my GEM too. Maybe once an hour.
Scyto Posted December 6, 2017 Author Posted December 6, 2017 These errors may be releated to me looking at the gem:8000 web page (which makes sense now i think about it, i hadn't looked at my gem / nodelink since april so i was getting forgetful! not sure...
io_guy Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 It definitely would. Anytime you visit 8000 it sends the webpage data to NodeLink too. Bluntly, the network comm aspect of the GEM is rediculous.
Scyto Posted December 6, 2017 Author Posted December 6, 2017 i think you have the same v1 ethernet/wifi combo board i have.... it just is too fragile...
io_guy Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Nah, mines V2 but it's still a disaster. The board itself is just a cheapo interface to convert serial to ethernet. It also has a number of security issues which Brultech have no control over cause they don't write the firmware. I've started playing with adding serial support to NodeLink and connected a Pi RS232 adapter diretly to the GEM com. If i get it working I'm ripping the combo board out.
bgrubb1 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Thanks IOGuy I just spent 3 hours figuring out why my GEM V2 wouldn’t send to Nodelink. Reboot and re-installing fixed ...Barry
