Jimbo.Automates Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Aeotec Multisensor 6 Firmware Update that is supposed to fix the sending of updates based on thresholds when on battery that I reported a while ago. https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/helpdesk/tickets/15425 Also many other fixes, like that bad 3bytye param, which of course the latest ISY firmware was supposed to fix as well. https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/solution/articles/6000036562-multisensor-6-firmware-update-12-14-2017- But I won't be able to try for a couple weeks. So give it a try if you have issues. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
cyberk Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Thanks for the heads up, I have 3 of them up and another 3 to deploy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cyberk Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 so i could have sworn there was a windows app to upgrade the firmware. You'd hook up the multisensor to your computer via usb, update it, done. Now apparently they only support OTA updating? hmmmm...
cyberk Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I reached out to aeotec support and it turns out i needed to click the "node information" button first, then flash. Good news is you don't need to remove the multisensor from the z-wave network, which is great. Select node, press node information button, start firmware upgrade. Seems to be working, i'll post back once i get all my sensors upgraded

cyberk Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Plugged in the zstick to my laptop, launched the OTA tool, selected the node, hit node information, and then flash. The OTA update is useful, glad I don’t have to go pull all the sensors down...but I would have still liked the option to update the Multisensor directly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

cyberk Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I’m using a Z-Stick as my primary controller, the ISY is a secondary controller on my network. I did not remove the ISY nor the Multisensor from the zwave network. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Do you know if the ISY is the primary controller does the device have to be removed from the ISY before you can do a firmware update using the Zstick Did you have any issues with the update? Did you notice any improvements?
cyberk Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I don’t know if a secondary controller can update the firmware, I don’t see why not. I never had much issues with my sensors before so I can’t say I’ve noticed anything improved yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Techman Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I just looked at the update notes. It must be removed from the ISY before it can be updated via the Zstick. I'm wondering if I can just disable it in the ISY without removing it. If I have to remove it then it will most likely be removed from all my programs, etc. Does anyone know if DISABLE will accomplish the same as a DELETE?
cyberk Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 It does not need to be removed from the ISY, I too read the same notes you’re reading...that’s why I emailed Aotec and asked them, it does not need to be excluded from the zwave network. Why they put that in their instructions, no idea. My sensors were added to both the ISY and the Z-Stick, upgrade went fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I just looked at the update notes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I tried to add the sensor to the Zstick and it wouldn't add. I also tried to use the "add node" in the firmware update software with no luck. It's currently added to the ISY which is my primary controller. Did I miss a step somewhere along the line?
cyberk Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Yep, add the z-stick as a secondary controller to the existing Z-Wave network. You can’t add the sensor to two different networks at the same time, which is what you are trying to do. Once you add the zstick as a secondary controller, you should be able to do the upgrade. If you can’t, then shift primary to the zstick and try again, but I don’t think the zstick needs to be primary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Cyberk, I just got this response from Aeon regarding the firmware update.. Sorry to tell you that you need to unpair Multisensor 6 from your ISY gateway. Because all memory of Multsensor 6 will be erased out during upgrading, it won't be able to save the information. Best regards, Sonny Sun Field Application Engineer Aeon Labs
cyberk Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Not sure what to tell you, I got a response from them saying it didn’t need to be unpaired. My Multisensor was not erased, and worked great after the fact. And remember, I’ve actually done the update, I’m not speaking from a hypothetical point of view, I actually did the update, lol. In any case, use your best judgment and the best of luck to you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
