tazman Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 I'm having some trouble with the smaller Keypad buttons. Accessing ISY through the admin console or through the Web portal I am unable to toggle the A-D switches on and off. I made sure they are set to toggle mode and none are grouped together. I also ran into a problem with programs when I try to use a button as a visual que on what state something is in. Setting a button to "on 0 / off 0 (back light level)" it will turn other button lights off and when I set it to "on 15 / off 0 (back light level)" it will turn the button plus the other buttons back on that were on. I have the back light on all my keypads turned off and they just light up for what is turned on. Thanks for any input. Tom
stusviews Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 The only way to control the LED in a secondary button is to place it in a scene and then control the scene. The scene can, optionally, have other members. Back light level controls the On and Off brightness for all buttons concurrently.
jimlamb1944 Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 More Details Define a new scene for each key (e.g., 'Bedroom Keypad Key A Scene'). Make the keypad key (e.g., Bedroom Keypad Key A)a member of that scene, as a responder to that scene. Set the scene level to 100 (1-99 won't work). Then you can use a program line "Set scene 'Keypad Key A Scene' ON".
tazman Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 OK thanks I will give that a try. Are we unable to operate one of the secondary Keypad buttons remotely and if you operate a switch that is not a primary controller remotely it will not operate it's scene? I have all Insteon switches in my house and everything works good I just have not done much with the remote access except have Alexa turn on lights and put some lights on my harmony remote. Tom
oberkc Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Correct. A scene controller operated remotely will not trigger the scene. It is better to control the scene remotely, rather than individual devices, if it is the scen you desire to turn on or off.
tazman Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 I'm just learning more now, I was just using mostly linked devices before and now moving on to more automation type stuff. Making the scene did work. I was a little lost at first that the scene was only in the device list. Tom
