Amazon Echo / Dot ~ Disabled Canadian Features & Skills: Solved

Featured Replies

For those Canadians who were fortunate enough to have the Amazon Echo prior to its release in country. We have all enjoyed the ability to use different skills, news, music, etc. Since the official launch on December 05, 2017 the system has been hobbled and disabled. Today I made a phone call with the Amazon Technical Support Team and (She) made the changes on my account to restore all the features I came to enjoy in the past.

What they need to do on their end:

- Change your account from the Canadian Market Place to the American side.

- Change your address from Canadian to American.

- I am not sure if the web hack works anymore as the new system doesn't show the listing it had before to edit out the address to a local one.

Besides hearing the news, music, the *Tell Me* skill which I rely upon for real time metrics was no longer working. This has now been restored and working as before. The CSR is going to escalate this issue with the development team in hopes of feature parity for the Canadian market.

Lets be frank, everything that was offered on the Canadian side was pure junk . . .

FallenAngel discovered their app doesn't function properly on android less than v5 as declared by Amazon on the PlayStore.

I can confirm both sides of that. Android v4 and v5

I haven't been actively using the new App but when the *Tell Me* feature stopped working. I had to take action because this is the cornerstone of many projects on the go now.

Well, besides the fact they killed off iHeart radio and Flash Briefings!!

There is no good reason to restrict news and sponsor paid Internet radio . . .
