Duck Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I am running ISY with V4.6.2 and am have a problem when I go to include a new on/off GE wall switch. After installing the switch I open the admin console and clicked Zwave/ include in the tool bar drop downs. Then turned on the new switch. ISY found it and added it the the device tree. I renamed it to Z-BL.Back Room. then did an ISY Backup and a Zwave normal backup. That night noticed that the Kitchen can lights where not working right. When i opened up iSY i noticed that the Kitchen Can Switch was missing from the device tree and had been replaced in the programs by the new switch. It was like they where linked. Turning on the Kitchen dimmer switch would turn the new Basement on/off switch and vs versa. After doing Zwave exclude and factory resets on both switches several times and redoing my programs. I have the Kitchen switch working again but have not tried to include the new switch again. Can anyone tell me what i did wrong in including the new switch? Thanks for the Help

Thanks for the Help I don't know whether it will resolve your issue but I suggest that you move to 5.0.10 . or even 5.0.11b (both Alpha) I have been using 5.0.10 since it came out and have had zero problems. I briefly moved to 5.0.11a and had a few issues, and I will soon try 5.0.11b. But moving to 5.0.10 should be easy.
stusviews Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I strongly suggest that you do not move to an unproven version to resolve a problem. the best procedure is to solve the problem first and only then make a decision to upgrade. Version 5+ is still in Alpha, that's a very early stage. Even some beta versions have risks. At least for now, stay with an official release. The latest official release is 4.6.2. At this point, I don't know if you did anything wrong, so let's go ahead from where you are now. Except for the new GE switch, is everything set up to where you want it? Post the program that became a problem (right click on the program name, select Copy to Clipboard).
Duck Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 Stusview Yeah i am not ready to go to V5 yet. What I have has been working just fine. The is the first real problem i have had. I never got to adding the new switch to a program. Just included it. It was acting like it was a controller and the existing switch attached to it. Is it possible to do that with GE Zwave switches? I thought you had to do that sort of thing in ZWave Controller. ISY, VERA, etc.. I have not tried to do include the new switch again. Won't most likely try again till the weekend when i will have time to redo thing if it goes wrong again. And if does do you have any advice on the correct steps for putting it back in working order again? And just as an FYI my system has 16 Insteon devices (counting phase coupler ) and 11 Zwave devices including add on switches. All but 3 Insteon devices is in the garage
stusviews Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 How you deleted the GE switch is important (how did you?), also indicate which specific switch, GE is too generic. When you are ready to Include the new Z-Wave device, start by selecting Z-Wave, Tools, Synchronize Nodes, All. What's the result?
Duck Posted January 3, 2018 Author Posted January 3, 2018 stusviews Used the Exclude to delete switches, But it took several tries to get it to take Old switch is the dimmer 14294 the new switch is a on/off 14291 If i do a Synchronize it does not find anything different. The new switch 14291 is powered up working, but has not been included yet. Will do it Saturday when i will have time to react if it does not go well again. Thanks for the Help Duck
Duck Posted January 17, 2018 Author Posted January 17, 2018 So second time was the charm. add the switch with a problem this time only thing i did different that i know for sure is that i did not back up ZWave after including and renaming the switch
