G W Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 By using radio waves and a 3D sensor, Vayyar can map where people are in a room. Since it's not relying on ordinary sight, it can even see through walls and smoke. https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/vayyar-watches-over-your-smart-home-without-using-a-camera/
DrLumen Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I'm not sure I see a real use for it except as a glorified motion sensor. Technically, it is just a really lousy camera using different wavelengths of the EM spectrum.
stusviews Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 The Vayyar is a really bright idea that's finally being made available to citizens at a reasonable cost after being used by the military for an exorbitant price to the government. Well, actually, the first user must absorb all the development cost as well. Another spy tool in the public market
larryllix Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 It doesn't only tell you there is a thing moving, it tells you where, how big and could be deduced whether it is an animal or human. It should be good to look out your front door without opening it or glass window.
MWareman Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 I want something like this but for outside. I bet it would be way better than PIR or camera vision based sensors it all lighting and weather conditions.

stusviews Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 I think I'll make a clandestine call to my local spy agency and have them fabricate full size entry doors. And maybe a few walls, too.
larryllix Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Maybe these https://www.lorextechnology.com/thermal-security-cameras/N-6i0zut Those are still infrared, not RF. They won't see through visually opaque walls.
MWareman Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Those are still infrared, not RF. They won't see through visually opaque walls. Or fog, snow etc...
