Athlon Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Hello again. This one is a little different. It's the white wires that have me a little baffled, and I don't want to ruin the Insteon dimmer I'm installing. The junction box has a wall plug, and a switch controlling a single ceiling light. There are 3 cables in the junction box. By the way - the wall plug and the switch are on different breakers - not sure if that makes any difference. Here is what is in there for cables and where the wires go: 1) B - load (ceiling) (was connected to 2-way switch I'm replacing) 1) W - to W from cable #2 2) B - line (was connected to 2-way switch I'm replacing) 2) W - to W from cable #1 3) B to wall plug 3) W to wall plug There are no red wires anywhere in this box. How should I proceed? btw @kingwr - I've already vacuumed it out...
Goose66 Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 That one is straight up. Attach the W (Neutral) on the Insteon Dimmer to the Ws from cable 1 and cable 2. Attache the B (Line) from the Insteon Dimmer to the B from cable 2, and attach the Red (Load) from the Insteon Dimmer to the B on cable 1.
Techman Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 The existing wire from the switch to the light should be connected to the LOAD wire on the device The HOT wire to the existing switch should be connected to the HOT wire on the device. The existing White wire should be connected to the white wire on the Device.

That worked perfectly, although I suspect you knew that already! Thank you!!
