Leak sensors can't comunicate with ISY

Recommended Posts

I Recently purchased 6 Insteon model 2852-222 Leak detectors, set them up with the guidance of the "leak-sensors-a-suggested-complete-program-package"  Post (Link Below), Purchased 6 Insteon model # 2992-222 Range extenders and put them in the closest proximity to the leak detectors.

I get the email notifications at 9am stating the following:

A problem has been detected with a leak sensor. Details below:

3rd Flr.Furnace North: (((2)))

3rd Flr.Furnace South: (((2)))

Basement Bathroom: (((2)))

Basement Office: (((2)))

Basement Well Tank: (((2)))

Basement Turret: (((2)))

---Status Key---

1 = Heartbeat OK (normal status)

2 = Heartbeat missed

3 = Heartbeat check program not running

9 = Leak detected

----------------

Note 1: It may take up to 36 hours for a "heartbeat missed" signal to clear.

Note 2: Status Code 3 indicates the "Variable Control 2" program is not running for some reason.

At 6PM, I get this message:

Seems that the sensors are not communicating with the ISY.

Is there anything I need to do to the new access points to get them communicating with the ISY or the leak sensors?

Thanks

You shoul'd need all those Range Extenders, but they'r good to have. They can increase the range and reliability of the Insteon network if they're properly located, not just plugged in (although just plugged in will help).

Back to the  main concern. The most likely problem is a program error. Even a minor error can wreak havoc. My conclusion is based on that all your leak sensors are sending that message. As a test, create a separate program to detect the heartbeat, for example.

If
        Status  'Basement Bathroom-Heartbeat' is On
And Status  'Basement Bathroom-Heartbeat' is Off

Then
        Send Notification to 'automate'

Else
   - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

If you get the correct notification, then pore through the program B)

Have you tried applying a moist paper towel to the electrodes to see if the devices report? If so, and they report be sure to press the button on them to reset their status. I have had some of these sensors to behave poorly until they had produced on "on' signal.

Thanks! I’ll try that. I would have replied sooner but I guess I forgot to follow the thread and I just released you replied.

One thing, I wrote that program but where does “automate” come from?

Do I have to create that somewhere?

I did wet the electrodes on one of the sensors but I did not get a report.

I’ll try it again.

I

OK,

So I wrote that program, I used my email address and I Ran the then function:

This is what I got:

Heartbeat Test

A Schedule was met at 2018/02/10  3:50:07 PM.

----------------------------------------

     At: 2018/02/10  3:50:07 PM

Program: Heartbeat Test

I also put a wet paper towel under all six water sensors.

Nothing.

I'll double check the program I wrote.

Thanks for your advice.
