JTsao Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 I have 3 2485-222 Hidden Door Sensors (V.45). All 3 correctly change when the door is open or closed, but one of them NEVER sends a heartbeat ON or OFF message. The other two send infrequent heartbeat messages. I have written a program to capture if the heartbeat is switched ON or OFF from all 3 hidden door sensors AND four 2852-222 leak detectors. All devices, except for the one hidden door sensor will either sent a heartbeat ON or OFF about 1x per day. I have factory reset the hidden door sensor, changed the battery, tried reprogramming the heartbeat interval, etc. and nothing seems to be able to make it send a heartbeat, but, it apparently works fine at reporting door opening and closures. Any advice on this?
Teken Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Do you have any dual band plugin modules in the home? If so bring one as close as possible to one of the doors even if you need to use an extension cord.Wait the customary time and report back success / failure regarding heart beat capture. JTsao Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Yes I have a lot of dual band equipment - range is not an issue - I started a series of programs to count when heartbeat on or offs are received and definitely no heartbeat in 5 days from the door sensor in question but it works fine for open and close

JTsao Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 OK now I see what you mean I’ll give that a try when I get home thanks
JTsao Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 I placed a dual band on-off module within about 3-4 feet of the door sensor. There was already two dual band dimmer light switches nearby about the same distance and the wireless access point was within 10-15 feet as well. Never received a heartbeat. I even replaced the battery and performed a factory reset. In the meantime, the sensor continues to report closures and openings properly but 6 other heartbeat devices are reporting a heartbeat about 1X per day. Strange problem.
PhanTomiZ Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 (edited) Hi, A little late to the party but..... I just bit the bullet and installed one for my front door. Open/Close sensor just didn't want to work right considering the sizing of door frames and such. Not to mention I didn't want to drill the hole. I had to trim the plunger inside the device for it to work just right for my door. I don't have much of a gap between the door and the sensor. This sensor is used to make sure the door is completely closed before trying to lock the door using an Auto door lock program. To the chase....I've been using mine now for a month and have found some strange things with the Heartbeat node. First the HB node is selectable between 5 minutes and 21 hours and 15 minutes. I've selected 21 hours to try and keep it close to other devices that use HB. I can get a HB signal anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours after the 21 hours. So, if I set my heartbeat program to notify 1 hour after not receiving a HB (my standard time for devices with HB), I will get a HB notification. Not what I want. Questions: 1) Because the HB signal is not being send out consistently, would it not be better to use the Low Bat node instead? 2) Does the Low Bat node work? Have people used this with success? 3) Why have both Low Bat and Hearbeat nodes? Maybe one works better than the other, like in my case? 4) Would battery longevity be greater if only 1 node is selected (Open or Close) in the options of the device? Just trying to see what other have experienced with this device. Thanks PhanTomiZ P.S. closest dual band devices are 3', 5' and 6' away. Edited June 28, 2019 by PhanTomiZ P.S.
