telljcl Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 So I think I have managed to get Nodeserver and Nodelink working, after moving from 4.62 > 5.012 on ISY. I have 5 Venstar T5900s that I was using via Venlink, so I ran 5 instances of Venlink from 5 directories. Also had a slew of ISY variables and network resources assigned to various thermostat / HVAC tasks and monitoring. So does Nodelink / Nodeserver / ISY V5 eliminate the need for all of this? Appears that programs have the required parameters right there, with no need to set up net resources etc... I know this was the promise of V5, but just want to make sure I've got the big picture here (esp. before I delete all those resources / variables). Thanks for any basic insight. - And thanks for creating not only the Node... apps, but also the Venlink series. Has served me well.
io_guy Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Yep, shouldn't need any variables or network resources. Also only need one copy of NodeLink and just add 5 venstar devices.

Awesome development work and foresight on your part. Thanks! Quick additional question - had a shortcut to Nodelink in my Windows 10 startup folder, but can't do that with a "run as admin" checked. Won't work when machine re-boots, as I have autologon set up. So did the elevated command prompt text you put in the server window, and now it works w/o admin rights. So that will be persistent through re-boots etc? Not sure what I did entering that command line text...

Another question as I re-work my programs / variables etc... I have an old program I used with Venlink which could change the dehumidify setpoint from a low number (basically meaning dehumidify "ON") to a high number (meaning dehumidify "OFF"). So in wanting to rewrite the program for Nodelink, the options I have for "Then" in programs lists only 'Humidity setpoint" - so I don't know if it is dehum or hum. Also can't figure out if there is a way to just turn "On" or "Off" the dehumidification built in to the Stat - my old venlink programs just changed the % to effectively do that, (because IIRC, venlink couldn't turn ON or OFF the dehumidification function itself, but could change the % at which it activated) but can't see a way to replicate this functionality in the V5 / Nodelink version? Thanks!
io_guy Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Not sure why I never added setting dehum setpoint. I'll add it to the next version.

That was a great feature of Venlink that I used in a number of programs. So what do I need to set for "auto update" - in Nodeserver / server PC or Nodelink / ISY, or do I manually update?

There is an auto update checkbox that I turn on when I hear about an update I want. Then I uncheck it after and reboot. There is also ISY update options that I leave enabled.
