Teken Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Had breakfast this morning and one of the girls gave this to me as change. Never seen one before much less a gold one?!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dbuss Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 It's a 2011 Native American dollar coin. It's worth one American dollar. In 2009, the United States Mint began minting and issuing $1 coins featuring designs celebrating the important contributions made by Indian tribes and individual Native Americans to the history and development of the United States. https://www.usmint.gov/learn/coin-and-medal-programs/native-american-dollar-coins https://www.usmint.gov/learn/coin-and-medal-programs/native-american-dollar-coins
larryllix Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Shouldn't the coin have a 2009 year, or newer marking on it? 1621 is a lot misleading. This would seem to break some international coin standard.
Teken Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 Thanks for that I thought I hit the jack pot! ?☹️Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DrLumen Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Yeah, they made the Sacagawea coins gold colored so they wouldn't be confused with quarters which are very slightly smaller. The old Susan B Anthony dollar coins were easily mistaken for quarters. The older Eisenhower dollar coins were a proper dollar coin.
