Iphone users: Agave or Mobilinc?

I have both for android and prefer Agave but my friend has an iPhone with mobilinc and was wondering which was better and if he should switch?  Can anyone with an iPhone comment on which they prefer and why.

BB - This is very subjective. Posting here you bound to get a biased opinion towards Agave. I have also no doubt if you posted in the ML subforum it would lean the other way.

First I'd post this in the community chat area. Second it really depends on what you want. ML has a very capable app for iOS. Android not so much which is why Agave was created. Agave has a very nice Android setup and is just getting going on iOS.

The argument I'd make is that Agave will soon be feature parity and will remain that way as well as a almost 1to1 match for interface so a user can easily switch back and forth without much trouble.

ML on the other hand has a large userbase and has been around for a while so it has had time grow into a very capable iOS app. It also has integrations that Agave does not have. Cameras and Tasker for example. There is also the promise of an updated Android app as well so I am sure that will be a welcome update for many users.

I'd simply let your friend use both and decide what he needs in an app.

Another easy situation to consider....

 

ISY Portal subscription? Use Agave. It supports this natively. Mobilinc is something of a hack to connect to the ISY Portal (but it can be done).

 

Mobilinc Connect subscription? Stick with Mobilinc (at least until the subscription comes to an end). Agave cannot Connect to the Mobilinc Connect service.

 

Personally, I used to have Mobilinc Connect. When ISY Portal came along I switched. And I switched from Mobilinc to Agave (because Mobilinc on Android was.... not so good...)

I use mobilinc on an iPad and my wife's iPhone, along with my android phone.  It works fine.  I have made no attempt to keep up with new features of agave, so perhaps it has some not available on mobilinc (but doubt it has many such features, if any).  It seems most of the complaints (unwarranted, in my view) were about the android version of mobilinc.  

I guess the question is: what do you hope to achieve with the app?  Do you (or, your friend) desire only manual control of your insteon devices and scenes?  If so, I suspect either will work fine and it will come down to the look and feel of the user interface.  Does your friend have anything beyond insteon devices (perhaps this could make a difference)?
