Z-Wave and Insteon Mixed Scenes

I've read through the topic titled Z-wave vs insteon switches and the ISY

I want to clarify what I am taking from it. I purchased the ISY994 w/Zwave because I assumed I would be able to create scenes that incorporated both insteon and z-wave devices.

Year or so ago - I have a switched outlet next to my bed with a lamp plugged into it. I purchased the insteon micro module and the insteon 4 scene remote. Installed the micro module behind the existing switch. Setup a scene and worked great for controlling the lamp via the remote.

Today - I picked up a GE Z-wave plus toggle switch from Lowe's. I decided I was going to take the insteon micro module out and install the toggle switch because it bugs me that the lamp can be on and the switch is in the down/off position and vice versa. I put the remote control - A button and the GE Z-wave switch into a scene and they do not seem to want to work together. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have mixed devices working together? Is it hit or miss whether certain z-wave devices will work with insteon(sort of what I got from reading the other topic).

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

@better5000, I have several Z-Wave and Insteon devices mixed in several scenes and programs. Including Insteon remotes with Z-Wave devices. Are you able to control the Z-Wave switch from the admin console? Just to confirm, you should have the Z-Wave switch as the responder and the Insteon Remote A button as the controller in the scene you created.

Before I junked all my Insteon for zwave, I had an Insteon motion detector that would trigger scenes mixed with both device protocols. It works fine.

Yes I can control the Z-Wave switch from the Admin Console. I believe i have the A button set at the controller. I'm going to try to attach a PDF of a screenshot.

Also, I don't see where the Zwave switch is specified as the responder. I don't see how to make that happen either.

@better5000 , When you add a device to a scene you are given the choice of making that device a responder or controller of the scene.

What firmware/UI are you using? The 4.7 branch does not support insteon/zwave scenes

This is from memory (I moved to 5.X) but I had mixed scenes in 4.7.  I could not use zwave devices (at least not my zwave devices) as a controller, but had a couple as responder.

@dbuss Looking at the topology, the Z wave switch is set to be a responder.

Have you confirmed that the remote a controller in that scenes, or responder?

Edit...I now see from the .pdf that the remote button IS a controller.  Starting to run out of ideas here.  I am not sure that this is a factor with a zwave device, but be sure to select, in the scene definition, the remote button and check to be sure that the zwave device responder level is set to ON.
