Access Point LED Strange Behavior

Featured Replies

Posted

I have two Access Points on different phases. When I put AP #1 into "check" mode (by tapping the set button four times) and plug in the secondary AP #2 the light on AP #1 glows bright as it should when they are on two different phases but about once every 8-10 seconds the LED on AP #1 blinks off then right back on. Is this blinking LED telling me something?

I do have one room in our home that doesn't receive Insteon signals very well and I plan to another pair of Access Points later this week in an attempt to correct this problem.

Thanks.

I have not seen anything on the LED flashing about every 8-10 seconds.

Mine do the same thing. So any more data would be nice to hear.

Mine are the Rev 1.0's. By chance what does the sticker say on yours?

My two do the same. I have assumed this is normal. The blink is very quick, almost as if it is momentarily loosing contact.

Mine are version 1.2 and are about 4 months old.

Steve Lee from SmartLabs told me that the blinking LED about every 10 seconds or so is nothing to worry about. However, after watching mine and moving them to different outlets I've noticed that in certain combinations my LED's will flicker. When I questioned Steve about this he said it is usually one of two things causing this: 1) Noise on the power line or, 2) A loose neutral in one of the outlets.
