MWareman
As I'm continuing my march away from Insteon to zwave - I got one of these looking to start replacing Lamplinc's. I included it - and all seems well. Except it's taking too long to turn on and off (on comes on at the same speed as 'fade on' and it goes off at the same speed as 'fade off'. 'Fast On' and 'Fast Off' are in fact instant). Joining the device to a scene works well - but it uses the regular on and off (not fast-on and fast-off) - so I went off in search of the config parameter to adjust this. Looking thru the parameter configuration sheet (https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/helpdesk/attachments/6052990313) - no mention of the ramp rate (or similar functionality). So - I opened a ticket with Aeotec. to their credit - they got back to me within an hour. Unfortunately - not what I needed to hear: "Unfortunately it isn't possible to do through Configuration settings. If you are able to manually send a Multilevel Switch V2 command, you may be able to access a Z-Wave variable under this command called "duration" which would allow you to set the time it takes to time from point A to point B. Currently only Nano Dimmer has a configuration parameter setting that would set the speed of dimming." Now - in ISY there is a button labeled 'speed' - but it does nothing. My question for UDI - is there any way to set a property of the device and/or scene membership such that the 'duration' is sent with the 'on' and 'off' messages? iNFO: Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] ---------------------------------------------- Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] ZW 042 Family Room Floor Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] ZW042_1 uid=42 type=4.17.1 mid=134 tid=259 pid=99 Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x5E V2 ZWAVEPLUS_INFO Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x26 V2 SWITCH_MULTILEVEL Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x33 V1 SWITCH_COLOR Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x32 V3 METER Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x81 V1 CLOCK Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x60 V4 MULTI_CHANNEL Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x8E V3 MULTI_CHANNEL_ASSOCIATION Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x27 V1 SWITCH_ALL Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x2C V1 SCENE_ACTUATOR_CONF Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x2B V1 SCENE_ACTIVATION Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x70 V2 CONFIGURATION Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x85 V2 ASSOCIATION Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x59 V1 ASSOCIATION_GROUP_INFO Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x72 V2 MANUFACTURER_SPECIFIC Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x86 V2 VERSION Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x7A V2 FIRMWARE_UPDATE_MD Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x73 V1 POWERLEVEL Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x5A V1 DEVICE_RESET_LOCALLY Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:40 : [ZW-SHOW ] - xEF V0 MARK Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] - x82 V1 HAIL Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] - Secure Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] Last working route from ISY to Node 42 - ZW 042 Family Room Floor Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] Node 42 - ZW 042 Family Room Floor has the following neighbors Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] No Neighbors Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:41 : [ZW-SHOW ] Node 42 - ZW 042 Family Room Floor has 2 association groups Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:42 : [ZW-SHOW ] Associations for group 001 of ZW042_1 ZW 042 Family Room Floor Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:42 : [ZW-SHOW ] Max Associations = 5 Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:42 : [ZW-SHOW ] - Node 1.1 - [This ISY] Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:42 : [ZW-SHOW ] Thu 01/10/2019 14:36:42 : [ZW-SHOW ] ---------------------------------------------- Thanks! MWareman
The other issue I appear to have is this. I have a SwitchLinc as a scene 'Controller' - and the Smart Dimmer 6 as a 'Responder'. The light turns on and off (albeit too slowly). However - when I dim the SwitchLinc - even a little - the light turns all the way off. This is my first foray into cross-protocol scenes in any meaningful way. I'd hate to have to replace perfectly functional SwitchLincs and my LampLincs continue failing... MWareman
It gets worse.... I asked if they could update the firmware to include a config parameter to address ramp rates... and their answer: "Unfortunately not for Smart Dimmer 6, this item is considered EOL or a discontinued device which it won't see another firmware change (any firmware updates require further z-wave certification). Unless there are large changes, there won't be a new firmware update."
DaveF
The Smart Dimmer 6 is EOL? What are they replacing it with?
MWareman
The Smart Dimmer 6 is EOL? What are they replacing it with? They told me they have nothing to replace it (as a plug in module) and that I should look to other vendors....
