Lost all Zwave switches with upgrade to 5.0.14

I have been using ISY994zw for several years with only insteon products without complaint.

About a year ago I added schlage zwave door lock and in order to get a good network I added two GE light switches and several inovelli plugs to strengthen signal to the door.

One of the inovelli plugs is the dual channel, and it would only come up as single channel with 4.6 firmware.

This week I installed an inovelli dimmer switch.  It added to my ISY, but was listed as "uninitiated".

At this point I decided to upgrade to 5.0.14 as I felt this would solve the switch problem, and the dual channel inovelli plug.

I was able to upgrade to 5.0.14 no problem, but only my 5 plugs (both channels now showing on the inovelli) and the lock came through after synchronizing.  NONE of the 4 zwave switches will show up.

I can exclude and re-include the plugs, but the switches are not to be found and nothing happens when I try and exclude them.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?  All switches are within the boundary of the working plugs, so signal strength should not be a problem.

Guess I will try and go back to 4.6 or would excluding all the plugs and resetting the zwave be an option?

Any help would be appreciated.

It could be possible that switches being in a metal box are not getting enough signal. If that is the case removing the switch plate may allow enough signal to reach the switches. Or if you could move your ISY closer to the switches that may help also. If you are able to get them added to your network perform a network heal.

It *could* be what you are saying, and thank you for replying.  I will try what you describe.

Is there any advantage to removing the switch and re-installing it, or would this do nothing because the switch has to still be excluded first before it can be re-included.  If the switch is not showing on the admin console, how do I know if it has been excluded, especially since it worked on the network for an extended period of time.

I am skeptical because 3/4 of these switches have worked for a year in their present location prior to upgrade.  They were working 100%, then after following the directions to upgrade to 5.0.14 they just did not appear after synchronizing the nodes.

Any other thoughts?

Even though the switch is not seen in the admin console it can still be excluded by putting the switch in linking mode as though you were adding it to your system. Once the switch has been excluded you can try including it to your network.

Removing the switches most likely will not gain you anything.

The important thing right now is to exclude them.

I had this happen with a couple z-wave devices when I upgraded to 5 xxx.

I try and exclude the switches but nothing ever happens.  No confirmation that anything was excluded...window just says listening for devices.

When I exclude one of the z wave plugs it instantly excludes and the window changes.  It is like all 4 switches instantly cannot communicate with the ISY after upgrading.

I guess I will just try and restore my back up.

Thank you dbuss for your input.  I wished this forum was a little busier.

I was able to get everything up and working!

I am not sure I had to do all this, but this is what I did.

I excluded all the plugs that were still working on the network after the upgrade.

I reset the Zwave dongle.

I re-included each plug very close to ISY.

I moved each plug around the closest switch, healed network, and excluded/re-included first switch....it worked!

I did the same with the second switch...moved the plugs, healed...exluded/re-inicluded switch...after a few tries it worked.

The final two switches would not exclude even with the repeater plugs surrounding them.  I physically moved the ISY to the room with the switch, and got it to include exclude...same with final switch and door lock and I was finally good to go!

Not sure why these switches did not show up in with the firmware upgrade or why they seemingly needed direct contact with ISY to exclude/include.
