djb_rh Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 I've got a big ISY based system that's been working fine, then one day I found two keypads giving trouble. One of them has a light circuit on it and the buttons are linked to scenes in the ISY to turn on a pile of lights (several loads on other modules). On this one, there are replicas of it around the room (ie. several other 8 button keypads with the same programming). All the others work. This one, however, doesn't. If I touch it's A button, I can see it TRY to start it's load, but it ramps and dies. Could a weird mix of LED and CFL bulbs cause this? And then I just get WEIRD behavior with the B button. It starts it's loads, but doesn't light up. And I can't turn anything off by pressing that B button again. But I can go to another keypad (which will be lit properly) and turn them off. So is this thing just...broken? The other keypad in question is actually just tied completely to some custom scenes that talk through an Autelis box to a Jandy pool system. The controls work in the Autelis box, and I can go into "Networking Resources" on the HTML page for the ISY and I can control them there, too. So I know the ISY can get the commands out and down the line properly. I just can't get keypresses from the keypad to do it. This particular keypad is also a 2486D, but has NO LOAD on it. I am able to get the Java admin interface to run. But I didn't set this system up and am not completely fluent in programming it. I did try to "Restore Devices", which did not help. I've pulled the set button out for 10 seconds and then pushed it back in until it beeped on the pool control keypad. Now I can make button LEDs light up, but I can't make it talk to the ISY, I don't believe. Any recommendations on where to go from here? I don't have any spare keypads, but could buy a couple if these are actually broken and just behaving weird. I'd just like to be sure of that first. --Donnie
Techman Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 First I would do a diagnostics ( compare link tables) on each keypad. If the diagnostics show mismatched link tables then do a restore device. CFL bulbs are notorious for creating noise on the powerline, I would suggest swapping out the CFLs with either LED or incandescent bulbs.to see if that makes a difference. If the first two options don't work then try doing a factory reset / restore device on the keypad. It's not uncommon for the link tables to get corrupted in the keypads. When you do a factory reset be sure to hold the set button in until the beeping stops.

I'm not near the admin console right now, but I don't remember anything like that. If I do a factory reset, what then happens on the ISY side? Will I need to re-add the device? --Donnie

Will I need to re-add the device? --Donnie From the Admin Console right click on the device, then lift click on "Diagnostics", then click on "show device link tables" After the link table populates, click on "Compare". That will compare the link tables in the device with the link tables stored in the ISY. If the compare shows a link table mismatch then do a "restore device" which will write the data stored in the ISY to the device. Repeat the compare, if necessary, to confirm that the device now has the correct links. If you do a factory reset on a device it wipes out the link tables stored in the device including any corrupt data. You then do a restore device which will rewrite the device's link tables with the data stored in the ISY. You do not need to re-add the device. The only time you would need to re-add a device is if you were to "delete" the device from the ISY.
