telljcl Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 I've added several Kwikset ZW plus locks to my mostly Insteon and ELK network of devices, and after adding and carefully positioning a number of ZW Plus repeaters, the Kwikset ZW plus locks work great. Question I have is, if I add a non-"Plus" ZW battery device (potentially a Schlage lock in this case), would this negatively impact my ZW Plus network in some way? I'd stick with the Kwikset units, but I have several Schlage units (non ZW, but electronic) and they have a larger footprint, and I don't want to repaint the door to cover the marks from the old locks. The ZW Schlage locks in question have the same physical footprint as the ones in place now, but are ZW. They just are older, and are not ZW Plus. Thanks for any insight on what I might expect.
simplextech Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 The introduction of non-plus ZW BATTERY devices into your network will not cause any negative effects. Battery devices do not repeat so they will not cause any hiccups of speed translation between plus to non-plus devices. Depending on your mesh setup, distance to nearest ZW Plus Secure repeater you may encounter include issues unless you include it before installation. After installation the distance of non-plus is far less than that of ZW Plus devices. Depending on the proximity of the nearest repeater you may find that you need another one closer to the lock. Otherwise ZW and ZW-Plus are completely compatible.

The Schlage lock (non "plus") will be close to several other ZW Plus powered devices (repeater and a lamp module).
simplextech Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 If you're including the lock close enough and direct with the ISY it should include fine in secure mode then. As long as there are other repeaters close by then it should all be good.
