jgcharlotte Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 The threads I have found on this are pretty old, so wanted a refresher. Looking at going with Z-Wave thermostats, Honeywell or Trane. System is A/C and gas heat, one upstairs, one downstairs, two systems, two thermostats. How is ISY support for each?. I don't need much, just on/off, temperature set, heat/cool mode Reliability for each one (communications, locking up, etc). One tstat is about 10 ft. from ISY, the other about 20 ft. V4.7, not planning on going to V5. Thanks!

With that said, if you don't already have repeaters, I'd recommend getting a few hardwired or plug-in devices to ensure a strong network. While your thermostats may work without it (especially in the beginning), you may have intermittent communication issues without. Troubleshooting will also be a nightmare (pretty much futile) as well.
jgcharlotte Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Thanks for the reply. I do have a number of Z-Wave devices, all of them farther than this would be, and have had exceptional reliability.
kissfan Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I have two Honeywell zwave devices that work perfectly. One is 30’ from the isy, the other on another floor about 40’ away. No issues. They’re under isy control for scheduling and all control. Nothing is handled by the thermostat. I am also on 4.x, not 5.x. https://www.smarthome.com/honeywell-th8320zw1007-u-z-wave-touchscreen-thermostat-with-wiresaver.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KeviNH Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I'm using the Honeywell Z-Wave thermostats, they work great with ISY as long as you have a robust Z-Wave network so communication is reliable. Compare this to the other brands (Mostly Radio Thermostat) we use at my non-profit, which don't work nearly as well as the Honeywell. Honeywell Z-Wave thermostats have instant reporting of status to ISY, so programs can react to the current thermostat temperature and activity (e.g. I count how long the heating cycle runs each day). I do scheduling in the Honeywell (wake/sleep), and then override this with the "Energy Save" mode set by the ISY so the thermostats are forced to hold energy save setback when I am not home.
jgcharlotte Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Thanks guys! Sounds good. The reviews on Amazon are mostly very good also. What functions are on the admin console screen for the thermostat. (screen shot?)
