NTP connection stopped working

Team:  I have had my ISY994i in place for about a year or more.  I just installed a new router, and I see that since that date, my NTP synchronization is failing and i have a red ! on the config page by the server name.  The error is: NTP SERVER NOT RESPONDING

System    -60006    n/a

I can ping pool.ntp.org

I have tried putting in an IP address, instead of the name

both of the above make no difference.

I am assuming that my new router is blocking a port that the ISY needs for the time protocol

all of my PCs at home are synchronizing just fine.

Any suggestions?  I am assuming that there are some protocols or ports that I need to be certain are open??

Thanks in advance for the help...

NTP sends from a random UDP port above 1023, to port 123. Your firewall needs to allow that out. It should create a session state to allow the NTP server to send the response back.

Just noticed this is now occurring on my system. New router was installed about 6 months ago, but just noticed error today. What needs to be done on the local router to fix this?

Hello, note that I am using a highly configurable Cisco commercial router.  I essentially had to enable all UDP routes.  My commands were...

Permit UDP any eq ntp

Permit UDP any any eq domain

Permit UDP any eq bootps any eq boot pc

---

Essentially, you will need to find out how to oent the UDP paths for your specific router.

I hope that this helps.

Good day,
