Alexa and hidden door sensor

Featured Replies

I have a hidden door sensor, which ISY understands.   But Alexa cannot report its status.

Me: Alexa Is the deadbolt closed?

Alexa: Deadbolt doesn't support that.

Me Alexa what's the status of deadbolt?

Alexa: That's not supported yet.

(I have verified that Alexa has discovered the device, and ISY Portal has given it a spoken name. )

The skill "try this" section suggests that this might work.   Is there something that will report status?

A contact sensor is not the same thing as a door lock.

All a contact sensor allows you to do is trigger a routine. You can query the contact sensor state in the Alexa app, but you can’t query it vocally.

Duane, the problem you are reporting happens to be a pet peeve of mine. What you are experiencing is not specifically related to the hidden door sensor, but the "Status" command. ISY no longer supports this command since the ISY "Skill" was eliminated.
