Partial Insteon communication errors

I had a system incorporating a number of standard insteon devices, such as wall switches and motion sensors. I came back from vacation to find that a couple of the switches were no longer registering their current status with the system. I did the usual device restore to no effect. They don't show errors, and will respond to commands either locally, or through the console, BUT when activated locally, the status is not translated to the ISY, which means a number of my programs no longer work properly (e.g. I have some motion sensor input that will be ignored if the system detects that the switch has already been activated locally.)

By way of example.

I can use the console to turn a switch to 50% power, and it responds normally. I go to the switch, and turn it off locally and it respond normally, BUT the console still shows it at 50% power.

It's only some devices that are affected. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Insteon links can be only one direction. Factory reset each device and then restore. Battery devices must be in linking mode first.

Test again and report back

Hello,

Thanks for this. Went through the steps for a factory reset. When I pushed the button back in there was only a single beep, not the double beep, but otherwise it looked like the reset was successful. Then did a restore device. No errors come up. The same behavior showed. Do a manual "query" from the console will fetch the correct status from the device, and the switches in question will respond to both local and console commands, they just do not report current status to the console (unless you manually query them).

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I would do it again. IIRC switchlincs give a long beep and then stop when fully factory reset.

The beep lasts about 20 seconds and it can be hard to get a continuous push without slipping off.

After that, if that doesn't work, replace it **sigh**
