mdyod Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Hello, all my PLM2413s just died ( no surprise it was about 3 years old) so now I've got to go through the ardous task of replacing... two questions ... 1)are there any threads to walk me through this? 2)what is the best (upgraded) PLM to use to replace the 241s? TIA
Brian H Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 2) The presently being sold. 2413S Hardware Revision 2.5. Is probably the best right now. It has an improved power supply and serial port daughter board over the earlier revisions. Hopefully it would be more hearty and last longer. The 2334-223 Serial PLM Pro now having FCC Acceptance in the FCC Database. May not be available for who knows how long. Except Smartlabs and they are not publicly saying anything.

TIA Attached is the procedure for replacing your PLM. As Brian H mentioned the current shipping version of the PLM is your best choice. It has an improved RS232 interface, better power supply and updated firmware. Replace ISY PLM.pdf
mdyod Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 Hey, Thanks so much for your kind reply. I followed the afore mentioned instructions to the letter. and when I clicked "Restore Modem (PLM) nothing happened.. I've waited a couple hours and nothing is happening... my dashboard cant control or query any of my devices. I see them on my list in the "'Main" tab but it doesn't appear that my ISY is able to communicate with my PLM, but I'm not sure of anything - it just looks like nothing has happened. Is there any progress indicator so that i can monitor the progress of this process? I must be missing something
lilyoyo1 Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Was the isy unplugged when you hooked it up to the plm? The plm must be powered and connected to the isy prior to powering up the Isy
mdyod Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 Affirmative Captain... it did seem like it took longer that normal for the red lights on the ISY to stop blinking and the green one to light up. should i try the sequence again? does the PLM need to be plugged in a certain amount of time before powering the ISY
mdyod Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 here's my log error log ( Ihope) ISY_Error_Log_v3.3.10__Sat_2020_01.18_12_48.33_PM.txt
Brian H Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Plugging it in first is all that should be needed. Probably took me 5 seconds from connecting the PLM to powering up the ISY994i. I did notice something. If you are using 5.0.16B. It did take longer for the LED's on the ISY994i to completely stop flashing patterns boot up. When I was trying doing work on the system.
Brian H Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Just saw you are using 3.3.10 on an ISY99i {another thread of yours}. So my comments on 5.0.16B don't apply and I also found out the long boot with Red LED was my DSL Interface/Router. Was taking a long time to give my ISY994i a network connection.

Brian H Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Your log post shows 170001 errors. That is a networking problem as shown in the Wiki page for errors. The flashing RED LED is a indication of a networking issue. I don't have any thoughts on exactly what is wrong. Have you checked you networking cables and router for problems? In the Tools Diagnostics tab. PLM Info/Status. Does it show connected and the PLM's six digit Insteon ID? https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Errors_And_Error_Messages https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Troubleshooting_Flowchart

Techman Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 13 hours ago, mdyod said: sorry if this is redundant but im not sure that i posted it in the right place earlier The ISY that you have has been discontinued and the firmware and hardware is no longer supported. Some of the current Insteon hardware is s not supported with the ISY version that you have. The firmware version and the UI version must be the same version. Not sure if your PLM replacement problem is an issue with the old discontinued firmware and hardware. It's best to submit a support ticket to UDI and ask them. support@universal-devices.com I believe they have an upgrade option for the newer ISY994i
