Ajax Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 Couple questions with wiring a new build. So we are building house number 5 This is the 2nd one with Insteon. The last house we did that was not Insteon for my parents and we did a somfy 110V hard wired powered blinds. The house we are working on now as a lot of large windows in the living room and thinking about powered blinds. The somfy 110V cost is a little too high and I was looking into https://www.selectblinds.com/zebrablinds/lifestyle-zebra-room-darkening-dual-roller-shade.html but that is take rechargable batteries are annoying me. Could a person direct wire something with a 12v wall wart or something, if so what wiring would you use? Or just stop worrying and charge the batteries when they are dead Below is the only info I found: At least one remote is needed per order. The 5-channel remote allows you to operate up to 5 shades on a single frequency When adding a multi-channel/frequency remote, please select 'No Remote' for any additional motorized shades you want to add to and power with it Rechargeable remote-control Motorization lift system upgrade includes rechargeable motor battery and charger A full battery charge will last up to 4 months based on an average-sized shade raised and lowered once a day. It takes approximately 4 hours to recharge the motor when fully depleted

I don't remember exactly, but cost of the double rail (dark and sheer curtains) system was about $ 1,000 not including the 2 Mimolites needed for Zwave connection. It works perfectly, both in wake-up programs and with both Google Home and Alexa. In fact Alexa reaction time is immediate.
jec6613 Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 I've been looking at the Ikea blinds lately, but the lack of a Tradfri nodeserver and rechargeable battery are putting me off. That said, if a Tradfri nodeserver existed I'd probably get them anyway, the rest of the room runs on micro USB rechargeable so it won't be too bad to 2x/year charge everything when the clocks change.
