What is the best way to use Mobilinc Pro without subscription fees?

I've tried to use Mobilinc Pro with two different setups and neither one work reliably.  my setups are as follows in the Settings > Lighting Controller >

host type: ISY

local http:// {my local IP joint address}

secure https:// {my external IP address}

and for this, I set my router to port forward to the internal IP address... this works but it is very intermittent.

the other setup ive tried is like is described on the mobilinc website:

http:// (is left blank)

https:// my.isy.io

with my Username and Password set to the same that I use to log in to my Portal account.

this works, very intermittently.

the other thing that I could try but don't wish to, is to move to mobilinc X which, as I understand it, is a subscription and I'm not interested in that.  I've already paid for Mobilinc Pro.

any suggestions?

Hi @someguy

MobiLinc X is best with one of the subscription tiers as there are many features you get with your ISY I can't do with a local connection, however, we did release an update last year that added a direct IP/ISY Portal option as a one-time fee.

Your first setup should work fine, but there are a few things to consider and fix in your environment. If this is intermittent, then what's likely happening is this: MobiLinc searches for your ISY using UPnP on your local network. If the ISY doesn't respond, the iPhone is on a different WiFi network, or the router blocks UPnP then MobiLinc falls back to the external IP address to use. This usually works fine, BUT, some routers do not support IP Loopback. That means the router will not let you use your external IP while you are INSIDE of your network. Sometimes this is a setting you can enable, or a firmware update to the router is required, or the router just doesn't support it.

MobiLinc X does auto-detection a little differently and just picks whichever connection (local/HTTP or external/HTTPS) that responds the fastest.

Wes:   how much is the one-time fee if I dont already have Mobilinc X?

My router (Netgear X6 R8000) does support UPnP and IP Loopback, so why would it still intermittent when using Mobilinc Pro?

Hi @someguy

The Direct IP Bundle that includes remote access and all options is $74.99 USD currently.

To test if IP Loopback is the issue, set the connect method to HTTPS and try connecting to your ISY when on your local WiFi and then on Cellular. If it only works when on cellular, then the router doesn't support IP Loopback.
