SiberianGnome Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 We have some lamps in the house that I’d like to automate. However, my wife wants to control them with the manual switches. my thought was that I can do this with a micro dimmer. I can run a 4 conductor wire out from the box. 2 wires - hot and neutral- bypass the switch and wire directly to the fixture leads. The other two wires go from the sense wires to the switch. My question is: how to I come out of the wall box with the 4 conductor wire and no plug? Anyone ever seen anything like this?
Brian H Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 (edited) The lamps are hard wired not plugged in? The Micro Dimmers Sense Wires can't be connected together and opened back up to control the connected load. The Sense 1 wire is connected to the AC Line to activate it and disconnect the Sense 1 Wire to turn it off. You can see the connections in the full users manual. Available on the Smarthome sales page if you have not downloaded it yet. So your wiring would be different than you thought it would be. AC Line to one of the Local Switches terminals and out to the Line Input on the Micro Dimmer. Neutral to the Micro Dimmers Neutral. Other terminal of the Local Switch to Sense 1 of the Micro Dimmer and cap Sense 2 of the Micro Dimmer. Edited September 30, 2020 by Brian H
