isy99i versus isy99i Pro ?

I'm Just about to order my ISY (Now that Homeseer offers what appears to be a very reliable plug in for the ISY).

I usually go overboard on everything I buy but as I grow older I realize it's just a waste.

Is the Pro version really necessary in a residential home? Over a thousand devices/scenes and a thousand programs!

The non Pro offers 256 devices, who has more then 256 devices in their home?

Is there any other advantage of the Pro version besides capacity?

Thanks

Hello intellihome,

The number of nodes is the number of devices X the number of buttons + the number of scenes. For example, an 8 button keypad is 8 nodes.

Generally if you have less than 50 Insteon devices you shouldn't need the Pro, more than 70 devices you probably need the Pro.

Note that an ISY can be upgraded to a Pro if you find your system expanding beyond the capabilities of a normal ISY.

Thanks Rand - I won't have more then 50 devices. I'll go with the non Pro

Now I need to decide on the IR. From reading the forums there was going to be an IR transmit feature but it appears to be shelved (or at least on the back burner), I'm guessing due to smarthome coming out with the IRLinc.

I'll go with the non IR (If the feature is released it will be an add on component anyway. So, no reason to get it now.

Thanks again
