I have had my garage hooked up for a number of years no issues till now. All of the sudden garage will rarely open when i press the keypad button. If i push the button on the iolinc she opens. I have a light wired to a switchlinc in the garage that works. Even in the isy dashboard it wont open. How do I trouble shoot this?

If it works sometimes it doesn't sound like a bad iolink, it sounds like line noise.    When I trouble shoot line noise I turn off the majority of the circuits in my panel and test.  With Insteon tho all but those two circuits (ISY and Iolink) might be too many at once.  Keep in mind if those are on opposite phases, you'll also have to leave on enough dual band devices for the signal to jump to the other phase.

When looking for a new noise generating object, that just started causing issues, I tend to identify the ISY circuit and the problem circuit, (and the circuit with the router if different that the ISY circuit).  Then unplug or airgap everything else on those two circuits.  Then I turn off every remaining breaker on half the panel.  Noise still there?  Turn that half back on, turn off the other half.  Noise gone, turn back on half of the breakers that are off?  Noise gone or present... continue until you find the offending circuit.  Then go on a hunt of devices on that circuit.

.... of course before you do all that, ask yourself if you've plugged in or installed anything new around the time the problem started.  (in my case that recently was a new cordless vacuum charger.)

Unplug the GDO and test it for operation at the IOLinc. Chamberlain GDO are notorious for clobbering Insteon signals. I have two vintages and the older AC motor one caused me grief for years that I couldn't find. I always blamed it on my Outback Inverter system. When I got my second one with battery backup, my Insteon system quit down to about 25% function, throughout my whole house. Two FilterLincs resolved it.

Only thing i think i did was install the switchlinc in the garage.

Finally have some free time. Logged in to isy consol and this is what the status is of the iolinc for the garage. The sensor is plugged in and function when i oress the button on the iolinc. Could this mean a bad iolinc. I threw every breaker and still doesnt work. 14d6d427a18951c8cd547eb7b768bb85.jpg

The ! means that the ISY didn't get a response when it tried to talk to the iolinc,  It could mean a bad iolinc, but more than likely means that you have noise blocking the signal.  Especially important with iolinc is that it is not a dual band device.  To test you could bring the iolinc and plug it into the same circuit as the PLM or perhaps get out a long extension cord to do the same.

" I threw every breaker and still doesn't work. " doesn't tell us exactly what you did.  It also doesn't eliminate a noisy LED light bulb (or someother noise make / signal sucker) on the same circuit as the iolinc.

Here's a detailed wiki page on Troubleshooting Insteon Communication Errors.

Got the new iolinc in. Added it to the scenes. Now i have to push the "D" button twice to get it closed and the light stays lit. 4c536e8a3bc8d717f4ff8a7e6976ec90.jpg20210113_174812.jpg20210113_174825.jpg20210113_174839.jpg20210113_174922.jpg

Sounds like the sensor connection is not plugged in or wired correctly.

Edit: If you hard wired into the screw terminals (vs using the 3.5mm plug) make sure they are in the correct spots and there are no wires shorting across the terminals.  If you used the plug, make sure it is plugged in fully.

I set the wire the same way they were to the new iolonc

When i access isy from my phone garage works with 1 click. This is a detached garage and i dont get wifi to the garage. Pic of iolinc is when garage is open. 20210113_184906.jpgScreenshot_20210113-185053_Firefox.jpg

I am talking about a small green light near where the wires attach that directly show the status of the sensor input.

It should change between off/on based on the state of the door.  If it doesn't, there is something wrong with the sensor circuit.

(On your phone you are probably hitting the relay device vs they keypad where you have to press twice.)

I'm assuming the keypad is set to a toggle mode and only activates the relay when switched on?  At least that is what sounds like is occurring.

You might also check your scene definitions for both the relay and sensor.  Does sensor turn keypads on or off as desired in these scenes?

Not sure how you have/had this setup to work before.  Did you use any programs to update the status of the keypad LED?

If so, did you update any programs with the new IO linc?

Previously i would push "d" when light is off and garage would open. Then "D" is lit. If i used garage door opener to open "D" would light up. When i would close garage "d" would turn off. I made 2 changes to isy. Checked reverse trigger and set momentary A

Momentary A sounds correct.  I wouldn't select trigger reverse if you didn't have it selected before.  That would be based on if the sensor is NO (normally open) vs NC (normally closed) and if you didn't change sensors I would change it back.   know others have had issues trying to get a trigger reverse setup to work, but they may have been trying to control it differently than you.

If your Garage Door Sensor scene is setup correctly and the sensor is wired correctly (and you aren't having noise issues as discussed before), the keypad LED (D) should change when door is open and closed as before.

1) When the door is open, what is the status of the sensor in the admin console (on or off)

2) When the door is closed, what is the status of the sensor in the admin console (on or off)

3) Post a picture of the sliders in the Garage Door Sensor scene when you select the IO Linc in the admin console.

Make sure it is the red Sensor line and not the top line that says "Garage Door Sensor".

Edit: Trigger Reverse is only applicable I think if you are using Momentary C.  Currently I am going by the assumption you want door to change state (open or close) every time you press button and not open only when the light is off or close only when the light is on.  But can address that after you find out why the keypad light is not changing when door open or closes.

When door is open, current status is on in red
When door is closed, current status is on in red
In the pic garage is closed. I am gonna switch reverse trigger back to uncheck

Edit, just checked and reverse trigger is not checked.

So first issue is this should change (either open or closed state should be off).  It is either wired badly or a communication issue.

I would suggest again looking at the sensor status LED on the IO linc itself to see if it changes on/off (green LED) when door is open and closed.

The sensor wires should be connected to the GND and S terminals (double check that any bare wires are not touching each other):

If the Sense LED is on all the time (when door is in open and closed position), remove the sensor wires and verify it goes off.

Also, did you change any keypad options relayed to toggle operation?

I did not change any keypad settings. I will take a look at the light in the morning and check the connections. I have 2 sets of wires. 2 go to gnd and s the other 2 go to n/o and com

Took.the wires out and re set them. Now the light on iolinc is lit when open and off when closed. When press D garage opens and d is lit. When i press to close d light is off and garage stays open. Press d again light is lit and garage closes. Once closed d light is turns off.

Whats weird is it works right with 1 click in the consol when i click on the relay.

This is not weird because clicking the relay in the console (or on your phone) causes it to activate every time you click it.

Your keypad button is most like in a toggle mode, so one press sends an off and the next press sends an on.

The on turns on the scene which activates the relay.  The off turns off the scene which doesn't activate the relay.

Now put the IOLinc in Momentary B mode.  This should trigger on BOTH on and off.  (let's hope!)

Makes sense. I appreciate the help. Gonna change it now and check.
