pyrorobert
My system is based on an ISY-994i with a PLM. I have about 66 insteon devices throughout my home. I have updated the firmware to 5.30.0. I have had my system up and running for 8 years now. The concern is quite a few of my programs are no longer responding to device inputs. I also have 4 motion II's that are no longer activating lights. Yesterday, I was adding two new devices, an IOLinc and a 8 button Keypad. When I added the IOLinc, the sensor portion was the only part that was added and the relay portion was not added. I also added the Keypad into my devices, but it added it as if it was only a single switch. These issues have started within the last year and seems to becoming worse. Has anyone else had any similar issues? Could this be a start of a corrupt ISY? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks Robert Edited May 25, 2021 by pyrorobert
hart2hart
In AC, restore PLM to ensure its links are in place. If this fixes the issue and it returns soon after then your PLM is on the way out.

If you have an 8 year old PLM, then you have probably set a new record for PLM longevity. Congratulations. I hope you have a spare on hand. pyrorobert
Yes, I cleared it and it does match. Thank youSent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
pyrorobert
I have a replaced my PLM a few times now. I believe the one I have is a newer one and is close to 3 years now.Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
HABit
@pyrorobert Sometimes the the ram card in the ISY can go bad and cause weird behavior. You can easily replace it (slot in ISY) and get a larger ram at the same time. Sorry, not near any manual now to tell you largest size you can use, but look in the ISY manual for details about replacing and size constraints. Good luck.

Good luck. @pyrorobert this is what I was going to say. you can use a 16 or 32gb microSD card. Watch for the newer A1 certification also, it should improve life expectancy. New cards, don't need to be formatted. You do need to load your current firmware version after the ISY reboots, that step will cause a reboot, when it's complete then you can restore a backup. here's a link to the wiki instructions: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing/Formatting_an_SD_Card I'll also add that after restoring the backup, check your timezone, mailserver, and other basic configuration settings. I did this recently and they didn't restore correctly, it may depend on how you answer the last question on the restore process.
pyrorobert
Thank you to all that responded. So this is what I have found so far. I went ahead and did a restore on my PLM. That did seem to fix all of my motion sensors and programs that weren't working properly. The IOLinc that I had, only picked up the sensor portion and would not recognize the relay. I did have an older IOLinc that I swapped out with the new one that was still in the box. Fortunately, that old one worked just fine. Now let see how long it stays working. Thank you again for the assistance. RobertSent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
JimMc
Just curious regarding the PLM restore -- how in the world did you put all your battery-powered insteon devices in setting mode? I have motion sensors and lincs all over the place and it would take way more than four minutes to access them and press that damned button. oberkc
I think they would be in setting mode when activated, such as by motion.
Brian H
If you have a PRO version of an ISY994i. You can turn off automatic writes to battery operated modules. Then go and individually do them.
pyrorobert
I have 9 battery operated devices. I just would go around and grab each one and bring them near my PLM. That is when I would run a restore to all of the devices. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
