rwelke Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Quick background: Moved to another house but kept the ISY 994I. Current version 4.7.3. Couldn't update Oracle Java, so followed Oracle's instructions for Mac to uninstall it and associated files. Installed. Cleared out Java caches and re-loaded the ISY JNLP. Also did a factory reset on the ISY. Finds the ISY but only the local IP address (10.0.....). Open Admin console with it. System Monitor shows it in "race" condition (100%+ cpu load). Entire system unresponsive. What displays is: Password (no username). Cursor jumps (stutters) when placed over the entry for PW. Suggestions on what might be going wrong, please?
rwelke Posted June 15, 2021 Author Posted June 15, 2021 As no one on this forum seems to be "into" Apple, the following is a self-Q&A. A combination of my perseverance and willingness to try things out, and various suggestions over a four-day period from Matt at Universal Devices resolved the problem (for me). How you might ask? OK, with Big Sur you have to go to System Preferences | General | Prefer Tabs and set it to "in full screen" (not "always"; which is the default setting). After that, if everything else is working, you'll now see a normal UN/PW prompt screen. If you don't do this, you'll get a screen that seemingly only asks for your PW but your O/S is (nearly) fully occupied with the app and is non-responsive. So, the change in System Preferences (above) rectifies (and is needed) to move to Big Sur (and later).
inovermyhead Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Just an added comment since I also access the AC from a Mac. I’ve had no problems. I recently upgraded my iMac 27 from Catalina to Big Sur (11.4) and the AC window opens normally with the boxes for both username and password. Could it be a problem with your AC version? I’m using 5.3.3
